Sorry for the inconvenience, but the CVS trees have become corrupted and are not currently usable. Due to this problem, though you can download the source from CVS, you will not be getting the source with the latest revisions that I've made. For some reason, I am unable to write new files to the CVS server, so there is quite a bit missing from the CVS trees. If you would like to receive the latest source revision, just email me and request the source code. In your email, please let me know your operating system so that I can send you an appropriate archive file (i.e., Linux will get a tarball and Windows™ will get a Zip file). Again, I apologize for the inconvenience.
The Law Office Essentials Project would like to welcome Mansoor Ashraf aboard as a developer! Mansoor contacted me about the PekinSOFT Resources Library XML Parsing class and made it work, where I had not quite done so. Because of Mansoor's awesome contribution, I asked him if he would be interested in participating on the LOE Project and he agreed. Mansoor has been added to the project as a developer, as well as a few other authorizations.
Now that we have two (2) develpers, one of which seems to really know what he is doing (not me!), we may actually be getting something functional up on the Downloads page that is actually the main goal of the Project. Also, I'm hopeful that we will be to our first Beta release by January of 2009. Keep your fingers crossed!
Today, November 16, 2007, at 11:00 CST, the CVS Source Tree for the Law Office Essentials Project was populated. Now, if you are interested in helping on this project as a developer, please let me know so that I can add you to our Developers list to give you access to the CVS repository.
Send an email to: Sean Carrick, Project Administrator and Lead Developer. Once I receive your email, I will get you added to our Developers list as soon as I possibly can. Once you are added, I will send you an email to let you know. Thanks a bunch for your support.
Today, November 13, 2007, I, the Project Administrator, have contacted WestLaw, Lexis-Nexis and LoisLaw in an attempt to solicit corporate sponsorship for this project. If any or all of those companies are willing to sponsor the Law Office Essentials Project, it will enable us to:
By having these corporate sponsors, we will get this Project off the ground and into law firms a lot quicker, with a better end product. It will also, hopefully, allow us to place legal research tools into the Project, thereby making the system to where the users don't ever have to leave our application to accomplish any of their tasks.
Keep your fingers crossed that at least one of these corporations comes through and decides to sponsor the Law Office Essentials Project.

Well, folks, I've got Version 1.0 of the library JAR on our Download page. However, you can skip straight to downloading the file by following this link. I know that this is not much, but it is our first available file! To all of you developers who may download and use the library: If you add any functionality to it, please be kind and email your modified version to me. Thanks tons!
Sean Carrick and the Law Office Essentials Team
The library JAR file that we are currently working on for the Law Office Essentials Project will be available for download from our Download page within the next two weeks. That's right, I'm personally guaranteeing that the first version of our library JAR file will be available for download by Saturday, November 23, 2007. This library JAR will be abstract enough that other developers will be able to use it in their own Java projects.
On November 10, 2007, Linux for Law Firms (LF2, Unix name: lf-squared) officially changed its name to the Law Office Essentials Project. This change was made to better reflect what the Project is attempting to do. After much careful consideration and deliberation, we decided that the name Linux for Law Firms denoted a goal of changing one locked-in operating system for another. Since that was not the goal of this project, and end-user choice was, we decided that we needed to change the Project's name. Welcome to Law Office Essentials!
On February 11, 2007, the first line of code for the LF2 Case Management System was written!
This means that in just a while (READ: a month or two), there may actually be some files for download available on our Download page. Also, we'll be getting some screenshots up just as soon as we have some screens to shoot. Now is the time to start checking back at this site monthly to see what progress is being made. Thanks for your continued patience.
The LF2 Project's web site has been started. On December 26, 2006, the Project administrator started bringing up the Project's web site. Does this mean that we'll be seeing some offerings from this Project in the near future? No, it does not, but it does show that some work may actually be started on this project.
